GNU Free Documentation License Is it good to take nasal decongestant for longer than 3 days? Q. i have a slight cold right now. whanever i get a cold, my whole nose blocks up. It always goes away when i take nasal decongestant, and comes back when it wears off. But i've been taking the decongestant for longer than 3 days, and it says on the bottle that i should take it for no more than 3 days. can anyone help me out here??? Asked by follower of God - Mon Jun 22 09:13:27 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. If that's what it says on the bottle then I would do what they say. You might try a Saline spray. That might help you also. Overuse of a nose spray can lead to what's called a "rebound" effect" in which the mucous membranes actually get worse instead of better. God bless. Q. would you worry that consuming it would expose you to the strong acid hydrochloric acid? Explain. Asked by chamorro_king04 - Fri Mar 14 04:58:37 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. No The hydrochloride is a compound with phenylphrine and the compound has quite different properties from the acid. In this compound, the HCl molecule sits amongst phenlephrine molecules. Even if HCl is freed up in the stomach (and I cannot find out whether it is or not), the concentration in a decongestant is much less than the natural concentration of HCl in the human stomach (about 1M). Q. I have been really stuffed up and sick for 4 days now. I deal with a stuffed nose through the day, but when it comes to sleeping at night, I can't fall asleep like this. I have used the spray for 2 days now, so twice. It says no more than 2-3 days. My nose is not getting any better, what are the risks? Why does it only let you use it for 3 days? Can you be addicted to it? Asked by LoveNAR - Sat Jun 6 21:59:56 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments From Yahoo Answer Search: "Decongestant" Smoke and dust causing eye allergies
